Question to all: do you want all languages to be merged automagically?
Or prefer to do it manually? Share your opinion, please!

Automatically no.

If I'm translating a file and there is an automatic update, then there is a
conflict when I want to upload the .po file I have with the .po file in the
server.

Just use msgmerge tool to update your translated PO file from updated PO file
(or from POT).

At least those teams that use Vertaal do not need automatic updates, we can
handle them with vertaal when and as needed without conflicts.
