I think it should ask for the password on the first, initial checkout. Then
the password is saved locally, in
"~/.subversion/auth/svn.ssl.server/*****", I think, and used for all
subsequent connections.

Mmm... you are right, it asks on 1st commit. :-o

Weird. Svn is asking for my password on every commit. This did not happen on berlios, it only asked once, and it was remembered for years. I did two commits in an hour, it asked twice.
