I never managed to force sed to remove also the line feed at the end
of the removed string.

I don't know, I've never managed that program well.

I just tried lokalize again. Used the wizard to start a new project. Only available type is "kde". After entering the directory containing the po files, it crashes with a segmentation fault.

I have to keep using kbabel, no other way for me.
