[opensuse-translation] .po editor on windows?

[opensuse-translation] Preparing 11.4 translation online update

As usual, shortly after the release I'd like to prepare a translation update. Please, help with collecting info about parts that are worth an update. Webyast is already known. Which yast languages? Desktop components? There is already a about update-desktop-files: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679089 BTW, if you resolve a translation bug and it deserves an online update, do not set its status to RESOLVED, but better assign it to me for packaging and releasing an update. [opensuse-translation] Starting with 11.5, creating 11.4 branch

I just created the 11.4 branch: https://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/opensuse-i18n/openSUSE-11_4-Branch I hope, I got it right. I created it, because we now have the first 11.5 related files (e.g., snapper), that do not belong to 11.4. Nevertheless, if you want to fix something 11.4 related, please submit to the branch! The first 11.4 translation maintenance on-line update is out, but we will probably need another one. [opensuse-translation] Italian Wiki, problems with "Portals"

Hi All, in the italian version of the wiki we are having some troubles traslating portals. In this page [1], i have just translated some sub-pages ( .../Intro .../Search ...). As you can see the same code that in the english version refers to the sub-pages (.../Portal:Hardware/Intro) which I have just spoken about, now refers to ../Template:Portal/Intro and doesn't work. Why? Is this a bug? [opensuse-translation] Easy way to find shortcut collisions?

Hi all, a problem I find when I translate .po files is about collisions between shortcuts. In particular, it is not so easy to decide where to put the & (or _) in translated strings in order to ensure that each shortcut is unique. One possibility (for yast) is to generate .mo files and then to check the result. However this approach is quite slow and not all modules can be checked (e.g., when corresponding hardware is not available). Do you know an easy way to find shortcut collisions? Analysing /var/log/YaST2/y2log I am able to find some collision but I still need to launch yast and go throw several configuration steps in order to point out conflicts. [opensuse-translation] Testing update-desktop-files translations

Hi all, I have set up an openSUSE 11.4 in virtualbox in order to test translations of update-desktop-files since some entry in the K menu is not translated even if it translated in the update-desktop-files.po. The problem is that I do not know how to generate the desktop_translations.mo file that contains translations from update-desktop-files.po files. I know how to generate a .mo file from a single .po file (e.g., when I test YaST translations) but if I try with update-desktop-files.po files, the resulting .mo file is not like the original desktop_translations.mo Any hint? [opensuse-translation] Some outdated pot file in oS 11.4

Hi all, in order to check/improve Italian translation of openSUSE, I asked to an Italian forum to point out wrong/missing translations. Analyzing the answer, I discovered that some pot file is outdated: update-desktop-files-kde-services.pot contains the string "Rename with KRename" but the contextual menu uses "Rename &with KRename"; a YaST related pot file (I have not found the right one) is missing strings "PackageKit is blocking software management." "This happens if you have an updater applet or other software management application using PackageKit running." "Ask PackageKit to quit?" (or some combination with new line between them). For the last I can open a bugreport against YaST, but I do not know the right component for the update-desktop-files-kde-services.pot file (probably translation). I have already sent to this ml a similar mail about the device notifier, but without obtaining useful suggestions on how to solve that particular problem. However, is it possible to ensure that all pot files match packages, at least for openSUSE 12.1? [opensuse-translation] qt-pkg.pot incomplete

Hi all, just for your information, I am reviewing the Italian translation of yast files and I have discovered that the qt-pkg.it.po file is incomplete, since at least two strings are missing: "RPM \"Re&quires\"" and "RPM \"P&rovides\"". I checked the .pot counterpart and also the .pot file is incomplete. I do not know whether only these two strings are missing.
