I can verify that the "zypper update" from RC1 to RC2 worked on my
laptop this afternoon, although my configuration is hardly vanilla - I
have the Packman repo, the GNOME apps, Mozilla and LibreOffice repos
and a couple of "factory" kernel repos enabled. But the machine *is*
operational and the patched kernel is required because it's got an
Elantech touchpad. At some point I have to check if the standard RC2
kernel works with the Elantech - I've lost track of the status of
those patches since I'm up and running.
On the NVidia desktop things are a little less fun. The GNOME RC2
LiveCD booted and installed just fine, and the nouveau driver gives me
a barely usable 1024x768 screen. I haven't tried using the proprietary
NVidia driver yet - previous attempts with it on 12.1 were
unsuccessful. I'll make an attempt at the NVidia again tomorrow.

Hi,
openSUSE-12.1-RC2 is released
repo for zypper update is at http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.1/repo/oss/
isos are in http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.1-RC2/iso/ or avaiable over http://software.opensuse.org/developer/ news article: http://news.opensuse.org/2011/11/03/are-you-ready-for-rc2/
Most important at this stage are major bugs that must be fixed before the final Gold Master (GM) release.
If I understood it correctly, everything that can be fixed after GM with an update can not be a ship-stopper.
Things that must work for updates (booting, NetworkManager/ifup, zypper/yast/Apper) should get extra testing.
Have fun testing... Bernhard M. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-testing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-testing+owner@opensuse.org
