Time spent removing, replacing, packing for RMA, taking to post office, running degraded pending replacement are non-zero costs. :-(
same than buying a new one minus the disk price :-( not to consider the risk of using a defective disk. anyway, most disk builder have own disk verifyer one have to use before returning any disk (and if so often do not need returning to have a new one), this utility is often very powerful (knows things unique).
