how can I modify the LCP interval timer and suppress logging of LCP Echo messages with smpppd from SuSE 7.3 (on a T-DSL connection)?
Check the "debug" option in the files in /etc/ppp/.
This advice needs a small note: if you omit the "debug" option on 7.3, smpppd is no longer able to detect that the status is CONNECTED, it will show CONNECTING instead. That's why it was on by default (fixed in later versions). Just to save anyone who read this the time to find out why smpppd's behaviour changes. But maybe you can live with that peculiarity, anyway.
