I'm using xinetd instead of inetd. After issuing lsof this is what I get> xinetd 11282 root 3u IPv6 10917544 TCP *:ftp (LISTEN) ftpd uses IPv6 and wu-ftpd documentation states no IPv6 is currently supported. How can I change this from IPv6 to IPv4? I guess it's the matter of xinetd. Are you sure you are only running one ftp daemon ? I somehow get the feeling that you might have another ftpd running ("port theft"). Check your /etc/inetd.conf to make sure there is only one line enabled for "wu.ftpd" and others are disabled (like in.ftpd, proftpd, ...) You can try "ps ax | grep ftpd" and "lsof -i tcp" to see whether there's a programme listening on port 21.
