Hi! I am about to choose a decent & secure linux distro for an internet-server, being capable of serving webpages (also with ssl), perl, php, mysql, email, dns etc. Looking around for secure distros, I found some (like http://www.trustix.net/) but what I liked most at first sight was EnGarde Linux (http://www.engardelinux.org/), not only because of its acclaimed security qualities, but also because of the ease of administration later on (with their web-management tool). The question now is: How secure are those "secure" distros really (especially engarde linux)? What's the drawback when chosing a "secure" distro? Will the results be better (or more suited to our demands) if I take a normal disto like debian or suse and select manually needed packages only? What are your experiences with such special distros in general? Any hints & tips appreciated! regards, nicola fankhauser
