Either you go and change your sendmail.cf file or you are changing the m4-file to:
TRUST_AUTH_MECH(`LOGIN PLAIN')dnl define(`confAUTH_MECHANISMS', `LOGIN PLAIN')dnl
replace LOGIN PLAIN by the methods you want!
