Hi community, First of all, sorry for a friday report on Monday, my university is opening this week and I had to get some work done. The majority of this week was spent in fixing a but that arose since the thumbnailer of last week came into effect. I and my mentor Stefano tried to solve it but all the while it was evading us that the problem was in fact that I was using Webkit from a worker thread of Atril, and because of this using gtk/gdk from two places was causing webkit to crash and the program to segfault. This was until I recieved an e-mail from the webkitgtk guys from Igalia, and now that I know the problem, Im on top of it working for a fix, and because of that this week I'll be working on the same things as last week, hoping to get them done. But because of this, Stefano was also able to have a look at the overall progress of the project. All should be well. https://github.com/rootavish/atril.git Thanks for bearing with me. Hi community,
Sorry for being a day late with the report, was feeling under the weather yesterday so didn't feel like writing one. So this week, now that I finally have depth knowledge of the large code base of Atril I re-factored the code to create an extended type with the WebKitWebView so that I may get rid of all the GTK errors. Must say it has been quite a learning experience. So as I was saying I re-factored the code so that now we have a new type to handle the webview and all its associated actions.
Building on this I implemented the thumbnailer and I'm working on sidebar links today. I expect to work on the search and bookmark(link) features next week. I also skipped on Mathjax earlier, so I would be adding support for that this week as well.
With only 5 weeks of coding remaining I hope to pick up the pace on the project so that I may be able to get it completed in time, and I'm trying my best to do the same. Search is a major feature that should be available and that would be my priority for the next week.
As usual to follow the progress of the project see: https://github.com/rootavish/atril.git
