Where we stand today: 1.) If we follow our arbitrary "rules" La Laguna would be the location by default, but we have concerns as mentioned above
I have, in a previous professional life, attended conferences in similar locations, e.g. Iceland. I stress "professional" here. I share your concerns about the Canary Islands as a conference location in our context. What was the response from the proposing team when you raised this issue?
2.) We can try and poke specific people in the hopes that someone is willing to form a team and run with oSC15, this would be bending our "rules"
3.) Consider co-locating oSC with another event in Europe, Linux-Tag, CLT (Chemnitzer Linux Tage), or other. This would also bend the "rules" and also requires people with feet on the ground. Those people have to be found.
Either one sounds good to me, but I am not much of a conference participant these days.
Bending the "rules" may send mixed messages to any team that may be interested in organizing oSC in the future, we are obviously concerned with the sustainability of the conference. Thus, this is an important point to consider.
I would expect the team proposing La Laguna to have some answers ready - what are they saying? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (6.9°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org
