Hi,
while I haven't read the entire thread yet, I'd just like to mention
the Jacklab Project [1], i.e. make you aware of it. It has been an
audio-focused derivative of openSUSE for quite a long time but is now
discontinued. Maybe you can get in touch with its creators to get some
more inspiration und suggestions.
Best,
R

Hello team,
After the mail that Bryen sent about Linux Audio Conference (http://lac.linuxaudio.org/2012/) and the passing of a musical university in Greece to open source, I thought to propose it.
Can we make a distro focus on music with such software and codecs? Some of them areMixxx,Audacity,Rosengarden,Alsa Mixer,Ardour, jack control, jack server,JAmin,Musescore
and many more. I'm not into music (only listen) and don't know what they need. I believe that it can be done easy to SUSE Studio (I didn't search if there's one). Personally I face some problems to setup my appliance with mysql and apache servers and a CMS like program.
