Yes, Novell likes to see that openSUSE is a kind of base for SLE. It might
happen that the openSUSE project makes some decisions that the SLED and
SLES folks would do differently and therefore cannot use openSUSE as a

On the other hand, this feeding into SLE is a good goal but it's not the
only goal. openSUSE is a great distro on its own - and therefore it can be
taken as basis for SLE ;)
