I've started to mess around with doing android application development. As some of you might know google has provided an eclipse plugin that makes developing in eclipse nice with some of the features it adds to the IDE. The unfortunate part with this is that it has a minimum requirement of eclipse 3.4.2. Currently only 3.4.0 is available. I've tried installing the packages that come with openSUSE as well as the packages in the Java:packages OBS project and then adding the update repositories in hopes of having eclipse update itself. So far I've been unsuccessful at trying to do this. Each time has product some error during the process. Unfortunately, my experience with java is very minimal and so I don't fully understand how all the guts work and interact with each other. So, my proposal and I'd be willing to help out is to get java up to par on openSUSE. I don't know if we could borrow some of this stuff from Fedora as they seem to have a lot of this stuff already packaged and are rpm based?
