Hence my discussion of the '-' delimiter...

Not perfect but better than '.'
We could, until the change over becomes widely known, understood and
adopted, adopt a convention of indicating end-of-life, such

openSUSE Asparagus (a.k.a EL:11-11)

but that does get a little too long for me.
