As you can see those are two valid views on the same situation.
fair point.
The solution to this is that both try to get closer to the others side.
that frequently happens. that also frequently _fails_ to happen. hence the discussion here.
So bugzilla is not a user support tool nor is it a patch submit tool.
perfectly reasonable position, in principle. from one user's perspective (speaking only for myself ...), having a honestly submitted bug even legitimately redirected "elsewhere" rather defeats the purpose if the issue at hand is them summarliy ignored @ "elsewhere" ... to Jim's example of WONTFIX ... a bit more explanation as to what/why, might actually be helpful to users in that specific case so that they might do a better job narrowing down the problem. exactly that issue happened to me just in the last days ... file a bug. be told it's not a bug, take it to the lists. took it to the list -- with subsequent, _additional_ info. the developer followed to the list, took the time to clarify that -- with the additional info -- it actually _is_ a bug, and now the developer's helping directly again @ bugzilla. that's *tremendously* helpful. and, i learned some things that'll ensure greater efficientcy, at least on my part, in the future. that process does NOT happen all the time. and, it would have simply languished if the developer had left it at "WONTFIX" ...
And complaining about the one or the other is completely unrealistic.
just to be clear, i don't believe anyone has "complained" here at all. do you, perchance, read otherwise? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org
