let me see if I understand the process properly as I can't get it to work the way I expect it to. Download the iso (for today, we'll stick with 12.3 to eliminate issues from builds of 13.1) http://download.opensuse.org/ports/ppc/distribution/12.3/iso/openSUSE-12.3-N... create a "disk" image file to work with qemu-img create -f raw ppc.img 8G boot the iso in a qemu environment, I haven't gotten this to work yet, not a qemu expert can you help as I am probably doing something stupid. qemu-system-ppc -nographic -hda ppc.img -cdrom /path/to/iso -m 512 -cpu e500v2 -M ppce500 (terminal freezes) After install, copy partitions to disk usable by the board As for the kernel, you are suggesting a custom compile? I am running openSUSE on a similar board. Just - install it on a random 32bit ppc box (use qemu if you don't have one) - copy the rootfs onto a storage accessible from your e500mc - build and use your own kernel Anything bootloader related won't work, but the rest is fine. Here is board reference information: http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=TWR-P1025
It has a uboot environment, which I have a rudimentary understanding of how it works, but not how to create an appropriate installer or image for it.
Any help would be graciously accepted. I am even willing to connect you up on my RPi via ssh so you can see the board via the serial port.
I am definitely sucking from a firehose on this one.

I am looking for primer on linux for power.. I have a Freescale TWR-P1025 board in my hands and would love to get openSUSE running on it.
Can anyone give me some guidance on where to start?
