I will try, this weekend, that's no problem.
The main reason why I ask for a freeze (12.1 unstable) is that we'll
have
a frozen release. If you have an ongoing factory release you'll have a
broken release sometimes.

Part of the problem with the PPC port is that it was dropped
unexpectedly AFTER 11.2 was released. No one really communicated it
with the community that something like that was going to happen. If
it had been known, more PPC users might have been able to step up to
test.

Is it an option to also freeze the PPC release on version 12.1 i.e. to
also have a openSUSE:12.1 release. The last version was 11.1.

Freezing it isn't the answer. We need to test, test, test it to see
if it actually works.

It might be that I'm overlooking something?
Is there any objection to create a 12.1 unstable?
An other option is also to create a openSUSE-12.1-NET-ppc.iso that uses
the 12.1 repository in stead of a DVD.

We probably could try to do a snapshot of factory and split it out and
see what the stability factor is. The odds of it being ready by the
time 12.1 is released is low because, again, lack of testing.
However, I would go with doing a split out when 12.1 is released and
calling it an "unofficial" snapshot for testing to see what we can
find. At least we would have a similar case to 12.1 to work with.

That's a good idea. As we need something that is stable enough to use by
PowerPC users.

I have a iBook 366SE here that I could test on. I don't have access
to any faster PPC hardware at the moment tho. However, it's only got
320MB RAM, and I don't have the extra $$ to upgrade it now, so I'm
limited in what I can do myself for a few more weeks.

I can test too. I have a PowerMac G5 Dual 2GHz.
