pdisk from the suse disks wouldn't let me change the type, and pdisk on the mac wouldn't let me write the partition table!

Chris, I seem to remember some things brought up on the OpenSuSe list pertaining to hard drives on the PPC. I'm sorry, I don't remember what was said or the URL for instructions on fixing the problem. There is something on the opensuse.org site that pertains to doing the partitions, etc, so you might do a search there or ask your question on the other list. Until they get Yast partitioning working correctly, you kinda have to go around the elbow to get to the hand routine. Let's hope the guys get everything fixed soon for PPC, to make things a bit easier in working with the Macs. Rusty
