Install a newer kernel. You probably want a newer distribution too. SuSE has stopped producing security updates for SuSE 7.x.

I would recommend Debian or YellowDog.

What's about a Red Hat distribution, I have Enterprise V 3.0. Is this working ? I search for such an information in internet, but didn't find it. Where can I find, which distribution is good for a model of IBM/HP/... ? Thanks Harald
