Hello, I am trying to install SUSE 7.1 for PPC on RS/6000 43P Model 140. However, I am not able to boot the kernel. The documentation at this URL "http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/olh_ppc_43p140.html" says that the kernel binary
CD1/unsorted/prep/zImage.140 should be copied to a DOS formatted floppy and loaded from the Openfirmware prompt using " boot floppy : , zimage".But each time the system hangs after reading the floppy and the kernel is not getting loaded. Can anybody tell me how i can get the kernel loaded? Or which kernel image to use?
First make sure, that the floppy is not damaged. Then have a look if the graphic is supported as Ferdinand mentioned. Another thing may be the Open Firmware. Make sure that you have the latest and greatest version on the machine.
