Hello, Thanks for your reply. I tried all your suggestions, without result: I have no ~/.kde2 under root or example user and consequently no ~/.kde2/share/config/kxkbrc and I could not find any relevant file under ~/.kde/share/config/ Any idea how to fix the keymap problem in X-Windows on the G3 Powerbook? When running without X-Windows the keymap is OK. When I perform startx, the keymap changes:
Delete ~/.kde2/share/config/kxkbrc (Possibly best when not logged into KDE as this user)
Same happened to me: I corrected the keyboard settings in KDE control center. Just leave it as it is.

I have a similar problem and in order to use my console keymap in X, I have "Option XkbDisable" in the keyboard input device section of my XF86Config file.
