Since many python2 and python3 versions of packages have such conflicts, this currently makes it impossible to build many of them in a single package, and will lead to many more errors if the check is implemented between packages.
For this reason I think it is important to come up with an official policy on this, since it is standing in the way of creating more python3 packages.
Isn't that solved in single packages by fdupes?
Usually not, because the python 2 and python 3 versions are generally different (for instance a script that calls python 2 versus a script that calls python 3). fdupes only finds, and is only useful for, files that are identical. That is the reason a policy on this is needed. If the scripts were the same then this wouldn't be necessary. -Todd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org
