Yes, that is a good idea, but the major problem with this idea is that upstream dislikes it: http://python.org/sf/588756 Debian does it anyway, but my opinion is: Don't do it as long as the discussion is not finished upstream. Otherwise we risk that SUSE users are excluded from upstream mailing list support.
