Ups, sorry, did not read the original message thoroughly. I thought that you guys were talking about the problem that Gericom 1st won't boot properly without acpi=on option. Wich is still true. So I think it's not possible to turn on acpi and use apm mode. Let me know if I'm wrong. Actually I've tried it on Mandrake 9.1rc2 as well with the same result.

What you should do is turn the ACPI on by giving acpi=on to the kernel in the lilo, by default it is "off" AFAIK. (one can do that in the GUI as well) You can first try it by saying "linux acpi=on" before booting.

Bin der Ursache aber noch nicht näher gekommen.

Wenn der Rechner acpi unterstützt und nicht in der Blacklist eingetragen ist, dann wird acpi ein und apm ausgeschaltet, beides zusammen geht nicht. Wenn dein Rechner APM unterstützt, dann versuch doch mal mit acpi=off zu booten. Neuere Laptops benutzen meist aber nur noch acpi.
Ansonsten siehe meine andere Mail dazu mit akpi und gepatchten klaptop.
