The trademark guidelines are documented at: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Trademark_guidelines Your usecase falls out of those guidelines and thus needs to be approved by the board - via permission@suse.com. If you write there, you should include a version of your letter so that they know what you're talking about I don't see why you would want to include the logo in your personal letter head. You're welcome to join the community and help - and I suggest you start first with becoming more familiar with the project. Btw. the spelling is openSUSE.
