I'd rather give a $5 to every 5th person than a $1 item to everyone. Plus, some of our market segments are covered for (nearly) free. I plan to have a small space at LFNW for doing penguin& geeko origami. The paper costs ~$5 for 100 pieces, and a single laminated sheet provides the full instructions. Some people don't know the product; a promo DVD is ideal for them, something of slightly higher value may be in order for longer-time users or advocates. Its a great way to reconnect, say "thank you" to the users, and generate buzz :)
I LOVE IT! While the kids come along and insist on playing with the origami, the parents will have no choice but to stand there and chat with us about openSUSE.>:)
We should certainly make this a recommendation for everyone to try in their booths. Extremely low-cost way to get people to visit our booths.

*extremely good idea*.
For usb keys, it's always possible to load the distro on a user furnished key.
But what could be possible is to add an usb support *to the box*. Selling the box is a very good way to spread openSUSE.
Don't forget than people tend to give more valu at thing paid (I know, for free software it's a shame, but I see this every day)

this is exactly why I am selling openSUSE, not for the profit because so far I have sold 11 copies of openSUSE 11.4 and I am making about 20 pounds on each box, but I am reinvesting the profits into paid advertising to try to bring in even more advertising.. 81000 hits in March - I think its having an effect. 9000 hits alone on release date I guess I would say I am having an effect and I am moving 3 a week. But yeah putting a USB image in the box is a good idea I guess but again how much does a DVD cost compared to a USB.. Guess DVD is much cheaper to print. -- Kind Regards Stuart Tanner Bolton Linux 24 Vincent Street Bolton BL1 4SA Tel: +44(0)1204 410474 Mob: +44(0)7868 028028 www.bolin.org.uk Distributing openSUSE in the UK Registered Linux User: 529825 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
