Dear All: We are Traditional Chinese translation team We are back for this issue #113 2010/3/18 Satoru Matsumoto <helios_reds@gmx.net>
As you may know, Weekly News Team is organizing biweekly regular IRC meetings on the #opensuse-newsletter channel on Freenode alternate Saturdays 14:30 UTC. However, we couldn't start the meetings for the last several months, because only few people were on the channel at that time - most of the time there were only Sascha and me. :-(
I know most of the team members are too busy with their own works to attend the meetings and the time for the meeting may not be so convenient for everyone. If members were willing to join the meeting but happened to be busy at that time, that's not the problem. What I am afraid of is, lack of interest.
So, if you think you are a part of the Weekly News Team or want to be, I'd like to ask you:
- Are you satisfied and having fun with editing/translating Weekly News? In case the answer is not "Yes", please tell us the reason, if you can point out.
Yes for having fun 1.Because I know many information ( Maybe application )and know and Meet some guys really ( I go to Japan meet Matsumoto and Naruhiko ) Not sure for satisfied 1.I have no idea ---------- who and what I work for ( openSUSE ? or End users who like Linux or openSUSE) I just thinking .......... ( sorry for my poor English ) Who is our reader? In Local and Global? How many percent (%) is Linux Developer ? How many percent (%) is Linux Beginer? How many percent (%) is Windows users who want to know openSUSE ? How many percent (%) is Linux Server administrator ? How do we know that? and find out who is our really reader ........... at Local and Global If there are only a few Developer at Taiwan and lots of Linux Beginer and windows users want to know and get some funny things on openSUSE. How can I help them more? Like you and me .....................when we open the News paper ( if you only have one news paper) The first step .........Maybe see the Titile The second step............some guys will read Sport some guys will read International News The third step ................. skip the other pages you don't like to read But actually, when I eat breakfast at coffee shop or store There are many news paper for different destination ......... for sport...........for Movie .........etc It just like the situation we meet..........( People have phorum, RSS reader, BBS, Google news ) so.........who is my customer?( I mean reader) What can I work or Cook for he or her? Can I see their smile or feed back ? or Just " I love openSUSE ? " or " I use openSUSE"? Back to main, I like openSUSE and openSUSE Weekly News, because they let me know and meet Matsumoto and know some guys like STS ^^ The point is ................how can we be "a Team" ( I mean all know each other, and know what's going on ) how can I say hi and thanks to really People. ( sorry for poor English too) Can we have real meeting ( at Brainshare [ U.S.A SLC ]? or the other place ? for Asia .......Maybe at Japan or ??) And how can we know different Location for example "Taiwan" --------- who is our main reader?
- Do you have any good ideas, proposals and opinions to make Weekly News much more interesting and attractive both for readers and editors/translators? "It would be interesting at least for me, if we ..." is considered a good answer. ;-)
Step by Step tips or Videos ? ( But we must know ......who is my main reader)
- Is the meeting time - 14:30 UTC alternate Saturdays - convenient for you? Over 1 year has passed since we fixed the time, it might be good chance to reconsider the better time for meetings. Or, if you think we had better discuss topics on another channel such as mailinglist, forum, Google Wave, etc., which is unaffected by time, please tell us your recommendation.
Maybe not just IRC........with Skype or the other one
There might be some opinions like "We should ..." and "We have to ...", but I would rather talk with you about how we can enjoy our work on Weekly News and provide more interesting and useful newsletters to our readers. To make things better and more interesting, we always need your help. ;-)
Best,
