Well, I want to add something to above. We are now trying to include not only openSUSE-specialized topics but also other Linux/FOSS related ones to our Weekly News, because many readers have already read the entries from Planet SUSE and lizards.o.o. For those who have no difficulties to read articles in English, it might be useful and convenient if they can find a wide variety of stories in openSUSE weekly News. However, this brings the result that the number of articles in each issue is increasing, and forces translators to bear the burden more than ever. As you may know, some OWN-translation sub teams are now hibernating. What I concern about ATM is, enriching openSUSE Weekly News may higher the hurdle for translators and less and less translations will be available. Certainly, no deadline for translations may be good for translators in psychological effect. However, on the other hand, I'm afraid this may cause further delay of translations and as a result, translations will be by no means *new* . So, my proposals are: - Translators don't need to hesitate to publish Light version if they have enough time to translate whole issue. Always it can be said, "It's better than nothing". - ATM, there are only 2 alternatives for translators, publishing "Full version" or "Light version". In addition to those, I'd propose the 3rd alternative: "Partly Full and partly Light" - that is, translators may choose which articles to translate and which ones not to translate. When they have enough time to translate whole issue, they may translate some articles that they consider important or have interest in, and other articles may be "Light(just translate the title)". - Translating may be in a stepwise manner. When the "Light version" is ready, the translator can upload it to their own Wiki and move up his Language in Translations page anyway. After that, they may continue translating when they have time to do. - Translators can add the articles which they find in the media for their languages to "On the Web" corner in their translations. It may take some time to find those articles by themselves, but those articles are not needed to be translated. ;-) I know most of the translators are volunteers and sometimes too busy for their works and private lives to have time for translating Weekly News. However, I wish translations will be continued in any way, instead of just given up. I'd like to discuss these issues with other translators and know their thoughts and opinions.
