But now, finally, scim-bridge-0.4.12 is available in the M17N repository:
http://software.opensuse.org/download/M17N/
Some other updates for scim related packages are available as well:
scim 1.4.6, scim-hangul-0.3.1, scim-m17n-0.2.2
Vielen Dank, Mike.
They worked well in my openSUSE 10.2 / i386 environment. But in x86_64 environment, I needed to install scim-bridge-gtk-0.4.12-2.1.i586.rpm additionally and execute ~~~~ # gtk-query-immodules-2.0 > /etc/opt/gnome/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules
to add scim-bridge entry to /etc/opt/gnome/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules.
Yes, I know. The openSUSE build service cannot build an *-32bit packages yet. The SuSE autobuild system has such a feature though. I.e. in the openSUSE 10.3 release, there will be additional packages scim-bridge-32bit, scim-bridge-qt-32bit, and scim-bridge-gtk-32bit on the x86_64 installation media which contains the 32bit modules. If these packages exist and have the right %post and %postun scripts which execute touch /var/adm/SuSEconfig/run-gtk SuSEconfig takes are of registering the 32bit modules as well. It is planned that the openSUSE build service supports creation of such *-32bit packages as well in future. I don't know when though.
And there is another problem.
We have to add a line "export GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge" to /usr/lib/firefox/firefox.sh. In another words, we have to do so manually whenever MozillaFirefox package is updated.
No, you shouldn't need to do that because the scim-bridge package contains /etc/X11/xim.d/scim-bridge which is linked into the subdirectories with priority 49: mfabian@magellan:~$ ll /etc/X11/xim.d/ja/49-scim-bridge lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 2007-04-24 14:55 /etc/X11/xim.d/ja/49-scim-bridge -> ../scim-bridge mfabian@magellan:~$ scim uses priority 50, i.e. scim-bridge will be automatically preferred if installed. Unless you don't use the default of course. If you have set INPUT_METHOD="scim" in /etc/sysconfig/language, you either need to make that variable empty to use the default (which is scim-bridge) or set it to INPUT_METHOD="scim-bridge". -- Mike FABIAN <mfabian@suse.de> http://www.suse.de/~mfabian 睡眠不足はいい仕事の敵だ。 I Unicode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-m17n+help@opensuse.org
