Do you mean scim-m17n plus requirements is enough?
Yes.
I use Suse 9.1.
The scim-m17n etc. packages included on your SuSE 9.1 CDs/DVD are a
bit old though, for example there was no M17N-t-latn-pre input method
available at that time. I recommend to update to the packages
you can find in
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/
My system tells me I need m17n-lib for scim-m17n,
and m17n-lib needs (it says) "libanthy.so.0" and
"libanthydic.so.0".
Install the "anthy" package from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/.
(I could upgrade to 9.3, but there have been discussions about
Korean not working perfectly yet with SCIM on 9.3 (is this still the
case?)
No, it SCIM should work even better for Korean on SuSE 9.3 because
scim-hangul has been updated.
I think nobody said that SCIM had problems with Korean on SuSE Linux
9.3.

But this has nothing whatsoever to do with SCIM, that's purely a X11
problem, the layout "ko" is simply missing in X11.
And, as I found out when checking after Marc's mail, there never has
been a Korean keyboard layout in X11, Jungshik Shin once tried to add
one but somehow it got lost. It will soon be added to X11
(See bug #87443 on http://bugzilla.novell.com).
And, you don't really need a Korean keyboard layout because
the difference of a Korean keyboard layout and an US keyboard
layout is very small, the only difference is that the Korean
keyboard has two extra keys to the right and left of the space
bar, the rest is identical.
You should have no problems using a Korean keyboard with an US
keyboard layout.
I.e. I see no reason preventing you from updating to SuSE Linux 9.3.
