I just tried on SLES9 which has scim-0.9.6 and OpenOffice 1.1.1 and it worked fine for me.

SuSE Linux 9.1 contains scim-0.9.1 and the same version of OpenOffice. I guess this works as well but I don't have a 9.1 system handy for testing right now.

If scim-0.9.1 really has problems with OpenOffice (I doubt it), please try the scim-0.9.6 from

and also, I really hopy that export xmodifiers things could be included with YasT.

I'm not sure whether it is still necessary to implement something like that in YaST.

XIM is becoming obsolete soon, GTK2 already has input modules and Qt will soon have an input module API as well. And there is IIIMF.

wow, good to know something better will come. ;)))

Therefore, you will be able to avoid using XIM completely soon and use more modern input systems instead which allow switching input methods on the fly.
