Hi all,
Cilium has been functionally broken for quite some weeks now and due to it's supported & tested status as a key part of the Kubic state, this has prevented all updates for Kubernetes/podman/go/etc for quite some time.
I've discussed with our Cilium contributors & known users and it is our intention to reduce Cilium's status in Kubic from "supported" to "best effort".
In otherwords, we'll stop testing it in openQA, and stop requiring it for Kubic releases.
Which means it will likely remain broken for quite some time. We won't drop the packages from Factory at this time, but they should be considered 'at risk' as Factory maintainers do not allow broken packages to remain indefinately.
Users will continue to have flannel as a fully documented CNI solution tested as part of the Kubic release process.
Weave is also supported in Kubic-Control and should be more likely to work than Cilium at the moment.
I'm also interested if we look into adding multus support which seems to be the direction Ceph on Kubernetes is interested in.

If there are no immediate objections I intend to reduce the test coverage for Cilium today in order to get the long-stuck Kubic submissions moving again.
No objections from me. I will try my best to change the situation in future and fix Cilium and Envoy as soon as possible, but for now that seems to be a good decision.
