We are observing a reproducible kernel Oops with the firewire_ohci driver on a Hewlett-Packard HP Z800 Workstation running 32Bit OpenSuSE 13.1.
Looking at the logs below, it looks like a simple stack trace being logged, rather than an actual oops.
Are the following exceprs from kernel logs of any use to you? Do you need further information? (...) May 30 17:10:43 rt-z05s3 kernel: [ 309.697867] firewire_ohci 0000:37:09.0: failed to read phy reg 4
Which Firewire controller is it? If it is from Agere or LSI then I think you are hitting:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65151
Which has been fixed meanwhile, but the fix isn't in our kernel.
I think we want the following patches: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/linux.git;a=commit;h=6b3fdba09d4e700eb... http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/linux.git;a=commit;h=eccbe3eed2a2ac6ad... http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/linux.git;a=commit;h=28871b2455526c82a...
and maybe also:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/linux.git;a=commit;h=d784c0cb7202d140b...
Martin, may I ask you to create a bug in bugzilla.novell.com for this issue? I'll be happy to commit the missing patches to the openSUSE 13.1 kernel but I need a bug number I can reference. -- Jean Delvare SUSE L3 Support -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org
