I just did a 1000+ package zypper dup on a 12.2 system installed to a third HD. It's an eSATA device that's supposed to be bootable regardless what I plug it into that's capable of chainloading its own master bootloader or any of its installed OSes. Its 12.2 Grub Legacy device.map has only one line, the by-id name of the HD it's installed on. When a new kernel is installed, this error message prints six times right before the zypper restart reminder: Perl-Bootloader: [datetime]: ERROR: GRUB::GrubDev2UnixDev: did not find a match for hd0 in the device map Whether this is related or not I have no idea, but dmesg has many lines like: [time] mdadm: sending ioctl 1261 to a partition! HD0 and HD1 are configured in part with RAID1 partitions, but no RAID partitions are mounted during boot or presently. There is one non-RAID partition one HD0 mounted as a data partition. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
