[opensuse-kde3] ksnapshot .png file size

Is there a configuration option somewhere to have KSnapshot save .png images in 8-bit instead of 24-bit? 24-bit is a complete waste for desktop and window screenshots that include no photographs. I know many many moons ago, probably at least a decade, .png file sizes were much much smaller by default. [opensuse-kde3] 42.3 KCrash: Application 'knotify' crashing... (& what about 15.1?)

https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1047852 last had activity in August. Anyone know if this still happens in 15.0? It remains a big annoyance in 42.3. BTW, 15.1 could use a http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_Leap_15.1/ soon.
