I have enabled Leap 15.0 builds in the devel repo KDE:KDE3 last week, kdelibs3 does not build and therefore most of the other packages do not build.
Does KDE3 konsole depend on kdelibs3? Thanks, Gianluca On Mon, 12 Feb 2018, David Sterba wrote:

I did my monthly update to the latest master of FW5 (17.12) and Plasma (5.12) and it continues to be horrendous. Simple things don't work, the pager takes up 1/4 of the taskbar, there is no way to tell it to use 2-row that is a simply mouse-click in KDE3, there is no way to control the damn clock and calendar font size leaving it looking like an awkward blob of text at the lower-right of the desktop, and on, and on, and on......
Which makes KDE3 and imperative for 15. Otherwise, it fluxbox, xfe, galculator and geany (not a bad combo at all, but not KDE3, and no tabbed konsole!)
It is time to raise our collective voices to the packagers of KDE3 and say "We want to help! We will code for KDE3 on 15!" It is desperately needed, especially for older laptops that don't have 4G and 4cores (and for all the other reasons I've documented here and on the suse list)
Let us know what stumbling blocks there are to the build, show us where the build service project is and we can help. Let's make this work for 15.

Due to long-time unfixed build failures in tumbleweed, KDE3 is being removed from TW and will not be added to Leap 15 proper. Don't panic, you can still use KDE3 if you add the buildservice project KDE:KDE3 directly. This IOW means the Leap 15 version will exist if it builds.
The KDE3 codebase is old and showing its age, from a quick look the build failure is in some SSL related code that needs to be refreshed. And there's more, see the Monitor tab on the project page.
I'm am moving from KDE3 to LXQt but will remain among the OBS project maintainers so if there are people fixing the failures I will review and accept the submit requests. In recent months I tried to fix random build failures, but this did not work. There were suggestions to take fixes from TDE, or use TDE itself. That's a hint for anybody who's willing to spend time on keeping KDE3 in openSUSE in a good shape.
