Look in your system monitor's task list and see if there is "devmon-automounter" process.
I don't know where to find "system monitor's task list", so looked in YaST2's 'System Services (Runlevel): Services' list, but could see no entry for anything like "devmon-automounter".
Hence my earlier question: How to install the HAL from:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE3:/HAL- enabled/openSUSE_12.1/
Add the repo and install...
Added that repo in YaST2, then looked at what's in that repo: - No sign of 'hal'. - Most entries are ticked (presumably meaning 'already installed'). - The ones not ticked are: - kdebase3-devel - kdebase3-ksysguardd which I assume I don't need. So what am I supposed to install? By the way, when I said earlier that no Device Notifier appeared, that was in the Subject context of 'optical storage media' (i,.e. CDs, DVDs). If I load a USB stick, for example, a Device Notifier *does* pop up. The question is: Why no device Notifier for CD/DVDs? Incidentally, what entry shouild there be in /etc/fstab for CD/DVD drives? (I have 2 DVD writers, for family video purposes.) Suggestions much appreciated...
