Guys,
Once a year or so, I like to load kde4 and see how it is progressing if I can do it without it killing my kde3 install. So I want to know if anybody runs both kde3 and kde4 on the same box and whether they can live together side-by-side without squabbling among each other like school children. If you do have both installed, where is the best repo to get the kde4 install for 11.4 from. (development packages are fine as long as they don't screwup my K3 install. What says the experts. My year is up, so it is time for me to load that mother and see how many more rocks I get to throw at it in bugzilla.freedesktop.org.
What say the experts - worth loading and from where -- or -- don't bother, the training wheels haven't even been taken off yet :)
David, I do have both installed on 11.4. But I did it in reverse order. I installed kde4 during installation of the 11.4 (from default repositories, that is v4.6, I guess), configured it more or less and then installed kde3 and switched to it (I think I still have kdm4 as display manager). I keep updating both but working in kde3 only. No problems so far. I'm using some of kde4 apps in kde3 and it is also OK. -- Mark Goldstein -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
