Hi everyone! I just heard openSUSE 12.3 has been released and with it systemd has been upgraded to version 195. I believe this version or a prior one deprecated consolekit. Does KDE supports logind?
Hi Jose, Well this version of systemd would make it possible to remove/deprecate ConsoleKit. Currently KDE 4.9.x does not offer any support for systemd-logind, but with the newer future release KDE 4.10, at least powerdevil will come with native systemd-logind support. However this did not stop us and a small team has been testing the last few days in validating which patches are required in order to make KDE work without an installed ConsoleKit. The status at this moment is that we are trying to resolve the last glitches with the lightdm, but for KDE itself all required patches have been identified. Next week I will update the KDE packages to include these patches, so that we only need to make a little switch in these packages when ConsoleKit becomes deprecated.
