08:25 Crash: ~> grep WM /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager DEFAULT_WM="kde4"
starts "kde4 Plasma"
Even on fresh virgin system with multiple DTEs installed, or with ~/.dmrc containing something other than default/plasma/kde?
I only installed kde4 which came with icewm and twm.
~/.dmrc contains: [Desktop] Session=kde-plasma
I just did a fresh (minimalist KDE) Factory install. The only dm showing in installed packages is kdm-4.6.2-4.1. Logging in on the KDM greeter, without selecting a session type, just returns me to the greeter. ps -A | grep kd produces ... 21668 ? kdm 21792 ? kdm 21793 ? kdm_greet ~/.xsession-errors is 402 bytes and only discusses input method issues. ~/.dmrc with a fresh timestamp contains: [Desktop] Session=default Selecting KDE Plasma Workspace from the greeter got me started into a KDE DTE, (and changed to Session=kde-plasma) but I gave up eventually after quite a long initialization wait with the progress bar at 55%. .xsession-errors was up to 98k, loaded with kbuildsycocoa4, dbus, nepomuk and various other errors. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
