I'd first try the SOLID_HAL_LEGACY=1 approach I mentioned at 0923UTC this morning.
Is'nt there the possibility to select the 'Backend information soucre' in System Settings? System Settings -> Hardware -> Information sources -> see "Backend for Energy management" at least it was there under OSS 11.2 / KDE:Release:45 but yes, the question remains open, why udisks is in KDF/OSS11.2 and not in KR46/OSS11.2, and just where the hell upower has gotten lost to. Just HOW did KR46 compile for OSS 11.2 if udisks/upower isn't there ?? I'm asking, not trying to blame anybody. Thanks for the help of all so far, but as work must go on, I'm back on KDE 4.5.5, the 4.6 is just not 'there' yet for what I need daily. At least under OSS 11.2, kernel 2.6.31-desktop, nvidia 256.53, kwin of 4.6.0 does work without a greater hitch, but it's slower over all and more fickle when it come to window-placement. I think with 4.6.1 the new OSS 11.4 will be ok for the most KDE users, when I'm looking at bugs.kde.org, 4.6.1 shapes up a good deal better than 4.6.0 is now.
