Hi all, After the latest updates from 11.2 / KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop, I had some problems with phonon ... I don't use pulseaudio or even have it installed on this machine. But after the latest KDE4.4 update applications trying to use phonon were hanging, apparently on detecting PulseAudio support. Even the control module didn't work. What seems to be happening is that now phonon is compiled with pulseaudio, it seems to *always expect* pulseaudio to be present, or hangs (no crash, just an infinite block). Which sucks for those of us who aren't using pulseaudio. Thankfully there is a workaround (after tracking down the problem and analysing the relevant sources) which is to set the following export PHONON_PULSEAUDIO_DISABLE=1 For now this works, but is the behaviour we want as default? If so, can we integrate this workaround somehow into the relevant packages? (e.g. in setup-pulseaudio) Forgive me if I'm just being dense and this was all obvious, I didn't see any mention of this in any of the recent threads discussing KDE4.4 / pulseaudio.
