[opensuse-kde] kdesu and yast2 sw_single no longer work under kde4.2.88

Hi, I don't get a root password prompt for any menu item set to run as root anymore and yast2 sw_single won't run under kde4 although it does run under kde3. The root prompt doesn't work under kde3 or 4. I'm running up to date factory. Can anybody give me a clue as to what I can file a bug against or what I can check. Hi, we're preparing KDE 4.3 RC1 in there, it will stay disabled from publishing for a week or so. KDE:KDE4:UNSTABLE:Desktop has been updated with a recent snapshot, it will head over to KDE 4.4 development from now on and be weekly updated with new snapshots like usual. [opensuse-kde] Cross-desktop KDE packages building - macros

Hello, a couple of IRC meetings back, we talked about advertising the buildservice as a tool for upstream KDE developers to package their applications. As a part of this, I have packaged a simple KDE app in home:llunak:kde (taskbarswitch) that with the same .spec file builds also for Fedora and Mandriva (where same .spec file means there is no conditional stuff per distribution). So it looks like it shouldn't be that difficult to make it simple for most kde-apps kind of apps, where their developers would just create one .spec and get it built for all RPM distros, instead of adjusting it per-distro (which, of course, would be an option too, but that's more complicated). The trickery can be done in macros and in project config (right now 'osc meta prjconf home:llunak:kde'). Does this make sense, or do you think it would be better to have something that would create the .spec with per-distro code? In order to continue, I'd like to do some changes and I have some questions. - The first question is: What is %kde4_runtime_requires actually good for? I would like to know the exact purpose, since it doesn't quite make sense to me. As far as I understand it, it is a minimal KDE version requirement, but this way it is specified by the repository, instead by the application itself. Which doesn't make sense to me for most apps, if I build an app with 4.2, it should work with 4.3 too. - In order to avoid people copy&pasting the KDE macros all around, I would like to split them out of kde4-filesystem into kde4-macros. Then people wanting to use the unified way could just link this package to their KDE repository. This would provide an easy way to adjust the macros as necessary. I don't see any big problem here, except for the mentioned %kde4_runtime_requires needing the KDE version of the repository. - And then, of course, there is Debian/Kubuntu with a completely different packaging system :(. I'm still investigating, but it looks like packaging something for both rpm and deb is a big mess. [opensuse-kde] kmaill does't change fonts..messed up folder list

I'm using kde 4.2.4 and kmail 1.22.4...just installed in a new maching. I imported all my old email, no problem; BUT from the get go I can't change the size of message list fonts, or an list except the folder list. [opensuse-kde] Upgrade to latest KDE 4.x (from KDE 4.2.1)

Am presntly using KDE 4.2.1 on openSUSE 11.1, and would like to upgrade to the latest KDE 4.3 / KDE 4.2.2. What are the repositories for the latest KDE 4.x (stable), including any additional Qt repo (if needed separately) ? _PS_ I would not like to uninstall or disturb the KDE 3.5 that is also installed alongside & works properly with KDE 4.2.1 (Release 114). [opensuse-kde] Hidden Wireless Kde 4.2.4 not working

I've been using kde 4.2.x and hidden wireless networks where connecting quite nicely using kde 4 network manger widget. At some point an option that says Connect to Hidden Network was added, you click on it type in the ssid and I could connect. Hey! I am using the follwoing repositories: "KDE 4.2.x Packages (openSUSE_11.1)"[0], and "Latest KDE 3 environment for released SUSE distributions (openSUSE_11.1)"[1] Since some days or weeks, I get conflicts when I try to update all "old" packages, e.g., via YaST2. Repository [1] offers python-qt-3.18-1.2.i586 that requires at least python-sip-4.8. However, python-kde4-4.2.4-5.7.i586 from repository [0] requires python-sip-4.7. [opensuse-kde] latest kde 3.5.10-54.2 has borked my X (I think)

I have lost it .... Just updated kde on SLED 10 to 3.5.10-54.2 and I now have no X. kdelibs3-3.5.10-54.2 There so no errors indicated in /var/log/XFree86.0.log. changing into runlevel 5 give the login screen which accepts the name and passwd but the menu items disappear and a blue screen remains with no further action. startx -- :0 also yields the trm gray screen but no term window is opened and mouse clicks provide nothing.
