Here are a list of proxy bugs in Kopete. Can you have a look at them and add yourself if any of them correspond. Otherwise, report a new bug and mention what kind of proxy setup you are using (socks, http, ...).

Proxy HTTP does not work http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135331 Thanks Will Stephenson for understanding the problem and giving right suggestion on this.
Well, the above mentioned URL specified that kopete will not work with HTTP proxy , and this is a bug which is fixed now . But i am not understanding, as SLES10/SLES10 contains latest version KDE and GNOME , why those fixed patches still not applied to kopete in SLES10/SLED10 ? . If this is bug where Novell already know about it , then why Novell still not released patch for this ? =======
Have you yet performed any YOU updates on that machine? Might it be possible that there are indeed some security/bug updates that would fix kopete for you? Have you taken a look at updating your KDE files from one of SUSE's mirrors to acquire a newer build of kopete to eliminate the problem? I believe you'll find the kopete program to be contained in the kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger rpm file.
Yes , i already updated my box with kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger-3.5.1-32.10.i586.rpm , but still the problem exists .
