This could be part of the problem.
A new user on 10.0 had the same big fonts. The other point you proposed is more helpful:
As a start, make sure each is configured to the same dpi. From a shell: xdpyinfo | grep resolution
Here, I get two different outputs:
9.3: resolution: 95x96 dots per inch 10.0: resolution: 108x113 dots per inch
This seems like this may be the problem. The question is: How do I change the resolution on 10.0?

Dennis, You can set this in xorg.conf via the DisplaySize setting. See the following interesting discussion for soma background information http://dot.kde.org/1138743149/1138769674/ An incorrect setting will very often show when you use mozilla within KDE. See for the solution to your question how-to set the dpi the following page. http://www.mozilla.org/unix/dpi.html When confronted with font issues it also will help if you run as root: fonts-config -f fc-cache HTH, Peter Vollebregt
