Any time I open Konqueror with either 'file:/' or with the root folder in the tree view panel, it locks up. It doesn't matter whether I do it as a user or root. When I close the Konqueror window with the close button, after a 10 or 15 seconds I get a dialog box with the following:
Window with title "craig - Konqueror" is not responding. This window belongs to application konqueror (PID=7087, hostname=localhost). Do you wish to terminate this application? (All unsaved data in this application will be lost.)
Any ideas what might be the problem? Where would I look for the config files and log files for Konqueror?
Thanks, Craig

Maybe you need to clean out your /tmp directory? Usually it's best to drop down to init 1, rm -rf /tmp/*, then back to init 5. Don't mistype your "rm" command or you could find yourself removing the /tmp directory altogether, not good.

No luck. I get the same results after clearing the /tmp directory.
Just a shot in the dark, but is there a .desktop file there? Maybe do a "ls -l /" and see if there are any extra file that could be messing with it. I have SuSE 9.1 Pro and my "/" only contains directories and no files.
Also, does this also happen with any other user account or while logged in as root?
Alvin
Just directories and symlinks.
It happens with all users, including root.
Hi Craig, In Konqueor, under View, turn off any Previews. Also try turing off the "Folder Icons Relfect Content" option. It sounds like Konqueror is reading something that it isn't expecting. Alvin
