Is anyone familiar with how to do this? A. Goal: archive cd media with a tool which provides these capabilities ---- 1. Copy data to hard disk; 2. Copy (stream?) data from hard disk to cd media while "spanning" data across multiple cd's, prompt's user for input (insert cd #1, #2, #3,...etc.; 3. Performs bit-by-bit verification of data to insure data integrity; 4. "Bonus" => copy protect media to prevent unauthorized distribution, i.e. make all available data 'read-only'.
I recommend you have a look at the dar (disk archive) utility, and - under KDE - at kdar, a very nice grahical frontend to dar. You'll find all necessary information at http://dar.linux.free.fr/ and http://kdar.sourceforge.net/. Both programs can be easily compiled from the source distribution, if SuSE doesn't provide the latest versions for your distribution. Regards, -- Andreas Philipp Noema Ltda.
