Hi,
I've been keeping my system up to date with Red Carpet, which has picked up a number of minor updates on KDE 3.3 recently. As of a few days ago, the 'super user' file manager has stopped working. It now produces the error message 'Could not start process Cannot talk to klauncher.' and simply yields an empty display. Any attempt to navigate to different directories or whatever produce the same message again, and a blank display. I did see a similar issue in earlier KDE 3.3 builds, where attempting to edit a file (KWrite or similar editor) from the 'super user' file manager gave a similar message and failed to open the editor. This seemed to be fixed in later builds, but now this is happening. Anyone have any idea what is happening ?

Martin, Have you restarted KDE after running "ldconfig" and /sbin/SuSEconfig? I think what you might be running into here is just old stuff trying to run with new stuff and usually a restart of KDE will do the trick. Remember, RC doesn't run those programs after installing, you have to do those manually. You should do ctrl-alt-F1 to the terminal, log in as root, run "init 3" then "init 5" to return to kde. That should get you going again. Lee -- --- KMail v1.7 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 Those Who Dance Are Considered Insane, by Those Who Cannot Hear the Music!
